Subtitled Four Journeys into the Far Realms of Lust and Longing<\/em>, the book is about \u201cpeople most of us would call perverts or weirdos.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ah! Pervs and weirdos<\/strong>. That\u2019s us.<\/p>\n

So imagine our surprise to see the next day, a week ago, the cover story of the New York Times<\/em> Magazine: \u201cWhat Is Female Desire?\u201d<\/a> by the very same Daniel Bergner.<\/p>\n

Our first thought: Nobody asked us!<\/strong><\/p>\n

But after reading this fascinating article about women sexologists<\/strong> exploring the inner reaches of female sexuality, we were sold that they\u2019re doing good work<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

But we know there are lots and lots of women who know exactly what they want<\/strong>. Is this still an issue? Apparently so.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the letter Nan sent to the New York Times<\/em>:<\/p>\n

To the Editor:
\nAs someone who has catered to women\u2019s tastes for sexually explicit material for 25 years, I read with interest Daniel Bergner\u2019s article \u201cWhat Is Female Desire?\u201d and applaud the work of Meredith Chivers and the other sexologists. Although I am not a scientist, I nonetheless have observed over these past 25 years that women will<\/em> seek out and spend money on sexually explicit material that they know<\/em> turns them on. In other words, there are plenty of women who know exactly what they want.<\/p>\n
