We didn\u2019t realize the clit<\/strong> needed its own ad campaign. But according to Sophia Wallace<\/strong>, that\u2019s exactly what the clit\u2014unappreciated, undervalued in the world\u2014needs. And she\u2019s out to make sure the world knows about it in a new \u201cCliteracy<\/strong>\u201d campaign.<\/p>\n

Why cliteracy? Why now?<\/p>\n

This is about much more than just women\u2019s sexuality, Wallace maintains.<\/p>\n

“Cliteracy is about not having one’s body controlled or legislated. Not having access to the pleasure that is your birthright<\/strong> is a deeply political act,” she told the Huffington Post<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A Tumblr campaign<\/a> has gone viral, and Wallace plans to take her Cliteracy street ad campaign beyond New York City, where she posts the posters touting Cliteracy.<\/p>\n

At base is Wallace\u2019s \u201c100 Natural Laws of Cliteracy<\/strong>,\u201d and the art installations are pointblank: \u201cThe clitoris is not a button<\/strong>. It is an iceberg,\u201d reads one declaration.<\/p>\n

And if the idea of a \u201cClit Rodeo<\/a>\u201d tickles your fancy, you won\u2019t be disappointed.<\/p>\n

Wallace says that even in (straight) porn the clit is considered \u201coptional\u201d and \u201ckind of freaky,\u201d we say the clit is rarely ignored or dismissed<\/a> in the real thing, real dyke sex<\/strong>, between lesbians.<\/p>\n
