Ellen DeGeneres<\/strong> has been named the #1 most influential person<\/strong> among gay movers and shakers, out-influencing Apple\u2019s CEO, Tim Cook. Out<\/em> magazine named its Power 50<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Ellen moved up from the #2 spot last year. One reason, Out<\/em>\u2019s editors noted<\/a>, was because it was \u201ctime to rethink how we ranked the profiles of the 50 most powerful lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people in America\u201d in terms of their business and cultural influence, power-brokering<\/strong> having changed \u201cimmeasurably over the last few years alone.\u201d<\/p>\n

Among the Power 50, we were also very happy to see Rachel Maddow<\/a>\u00a0and Brittney Griner<\/a> included.<\/p>\n
