This curious soul hadn’t yet been born when the raids in New York City’s Greenwich Village came to a head one late June night in 1969 at the Stonewall Inn just off Sheridan Square. We received an interesting letter from a Fatale fan who asked, “Do you have DVDs that feature sex between gender-queers and/or butch women and queeny men?”

Gender queer is an interesting term that applies to transfolk, transmen, transwomen, queers, gender-benders, FTMs, MTFs and those who just plain don’t feel wedded to one gender. The appellation is usually self-determined and liberating.

We like gender queer movies and images because they’re a reflection of who we really are as a diverse, dynamic culture. Gender queer is descriptive without pinning you down to one “thing” or another. We can all be who we are without sacrificing a cultural or group identity.

When we first saw Barbara DeGenevieve’s video footage of the queers in Chicago when she was filming Full Load, we were blown away. Here were real dykes, real transfolk, real FTMs who weren’t afraid to bare it all. That takes guts.

Then along came Carolyn, who had worked with Barbara in Chicago and was striking out on her own with Turn Me Up Over and On, an amateur short with a sweet encounter between a femme and her boi.
